Tomorrow night, The Tartan will post an exclusive interview with Gordon’s incoming President.
Michael D. Hammond, current Provost and executive vice president at Taylor University, will serve as Gordon College’s ninth president.
Hammond has six children, and “has published and lectured extensively on American Christianity and the civil rights movement, particularly in how the intersection of race and religion in the 20th century played out in the United States.”
He holds a BA in Christian Education from Taylor, a Masters in “biblical and theological studies, with a focus on religion in American life,” and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Arkansas.
Hammond will address the campus today at 1:15 and 2:15 in the chapel, and a celebration event will be held at 4:00 on the Quad.
