The Gordon College community was struck a tragic blow this week as Paula the snow toddler passed on. Created on February 24, 2020 at 6 p.m., standing at approx. 2.2 ft tall and 8 lbs, we lost Paula sometime on Thursday morning. It is unknown at this time if Paula fell victim to oppressive heat from the sun or malicious assailant. Given the perfect, field-goal height of her head, either theory seems equally plausible. She is remembered for her passion for art, baking an impeccable soufflé, for picking fights with bigger snowmen, and above all, the love for her fascinator hat.
At 7 p.m. she graduated from the Academy at Penguin Hall, popular in her class for her art sculptures. And at 7:30 she was accepted into the Glasgow School of Art where she honed her sculpting skills. It was during her time in the U.K. that she tried out for the Great British Baking show, though was denied because the judges worried about the liability a snowman using a hot oven would incur. Despite her thermo-disability, baking was one of her favorite activities.
At 8:30, Paula graduated from the Glasgow School of Art, at the whopping age of 2.5 hours and found the career of her dreams as an art critic. Around this same time, she discovered her love of fascinator hats when she saw how elegant they looked at the royal wedding, and incorporated them into her everyday apparel. A champion of the underdog, Paula scored a victory for the often-made-fun-of snow toddlers when she beat the large, bearded snowman from the quad in a fight at 10 p.m. Her gigantic smile will live on in our hearts.
Rest in Peace Paula, taken before your time. Feb. 24, 2021-Feb. 25, 2021
